Huning Highland Homes for Sale
Historic Downtown Albuquerque
Huning Highland, bound by I-25 and Broadway to the east and west, and MLK, Jr.to the north and Coal to the South was Albuquerque’s first “subdivision” heralding the arrival of the railroad in the 1890’s. As the employees of the ATSF railroad moved to Albuquerque they modeled a neighborhood just east of the railroad tracks after their homes in Kansas City and points east. A charming mixture of Victorian, Queen Anne, and Edwardian homes, the streets of Huning Highland reminds one of a quiet small tree-lined Midwestern town at the turn of the 20th Century. The houses run the gamut from three story brick mansions to 600 square foot cottages with a few adobe homes thrown into the mix in the 1920’s. In 1979 Huning Highland was designated a National Historic District.

Longtime Downtown Realtor
As a resident of Huning Highland Addition for twenty years I love the neighborhood and being so close to both the movie theaters and restaurants but also to the Popejoy at UNM. Nothing’s better than sitting on your porch on a warm summer evening and having your neighbors stop in to say hello and share a glass of lemonade. Events like the Christmas Dickens of a Dinner, the Mother’s Day Home Tour, Sam’s world famous Halloween Party, the Summer Picnic, and the Community Garden Huning Highlands has a sense of Community too often missing in Urban areas. I love the uniqueness of each and every home in my neighborhood and the sense of pride we have in preserving this 100 year plus old neighborhood.
